Lowell Bennett (Zip) Massingill b. July 22, 1907 d. Dec.9, 1953 in Fort Worth, Tx., buried in Big Spring.  His wife's name was Juette Littlejohn Massingill.  I have no information on her. Would like to find her birth and death dates and the correct spelling of her name.

GRAY

Hello, I'm researching my family history and found an old document (Tx State Archives) from GGG-Grandfather Daniel Gray dated 26 June 1840 in Big Springs, Texas. The content is administrative about delivering papers to his lawyer.  It is strange because Daniel Gray and his family is from Bastrop, Texas.  I know he did ride with the rangers at various periods of his life, and the fact that Commanche indians often raided the Bastrop area.  Was anything going on in Big Springs in this time period?  Do you think this could be a Ranger scouting party or retalliation raid against the Commanche? Any theories or comments would be welcome.

I am trying to find the last name of my great grandmother, born in Howard County, Feb.1861, living there until she married Wm.S. BYRD from TN.in Sulpher Springs,TX..  She would have been 19 at the time of the 1880 census, so she may well have moved away by that time.  If you happen to run across a Mary W.____, born there in Howard County, could you please let me know?

I have been researching the name BYRD.  I went to the Clayton Library in Houston and was able to find my great grandparents. . My great grandfather's name was William S. BYRD.  My great grandmother's name was only listed as Mary W.  The soundex said he was from TN and she was from TX. It also said Howard Co. and Sulpher Springs TWP.  Their first child was born in July 1881 in ARK. In the 1900 census he was 45 years old and she was 39 years old.  I would like to find  my great great grandfather to see what his name would be.  Would appreciate any help you could give me.

I am searching for a cemetery in Howard County for genealogy research.  I went with my grandmother several times back in the 1960's to Luther. There was a cemetery by a church and her infant brother was buried there.  I am trying to find the birth and death dates for Benjamin Mathies, d. approx. 1907.

CLEAVENGER

I am trying to locate any descendants of a Page and Margie Cleavenger, who were living in Forsan, Howard County, TX; according to the social security index, he was born 28 Jul 1928 and died in Sept 1972, and she was born on 28 Sept 1928 and died on 1 Mar 1993.  Is there a local newspaper that might have a copy of their obituaries or is there someone who may have known this couple that might know if they had any children and where they may be?  I am willing to renumerate somebody to check on this if need be.  Thanks in advance.

Hettie Craig HENDERSON married to William Clarence (Willie) HENDERSON.  They had four daughters: Alice, Cora, Zella, and Thelma.  Looking for death dates and/or obituary since Hettie's death is not recorded in the Texas Death Records, and there is no cemetery marker for her. I am trying to locate any of Vernon A. Key's descendents.  My sister is his neice.  She would like to know where her half-sister Sallie (Sally) J. I have information from a family  member that in the 1940's a new highway was built over the cemetery which was the interment location of our relatives. If this is a true fact, was any record kept of these graves?  The nanes I would be looking for are as follows: James BARR, Missouri Ann BARR, Minervy Ann BARR and Baby Girl BARR. Researching William H. BOYD, Isabella Frances BOYD, and James Ashby BOYD and/or Caroline BOYD ANDREWS or HERSHMAN.  The time frame would be 1890-1910.  I beleive they were prominent in Disciples of Christ Church.  James Ashby was probably called Ashby, and Caroline was Carrie. Any vital statistics would be marvelous, esp. any marraige record for Ashby.  They lived at Bisco, and Isabella's letters frequently refer to Big Spring.

I am searching for info. on my great,great grandfather-JOSEPH McILVAIN.  I don't know when he was born; he married Girdy Lee ASHMORE (Sept.27,1903) and May ROBINSON(Oct. 18, 1934), and then Jessie Blanche KELLEY(Apr.5, 1956).  He died June 11, 1960.  He and Girdy had 8 children; grandfather, William Thomas McILVAIN (Aug.11, 1904-Jan.15, 1980), lived in the Big Spring area. Jeston COOTS CREWS COOTS JOHNSON GEE (b.1839 MO) was living with her son, William Henderson COOTS(1867-1939), in McLennan County in 1900.  William settled in Howard County prior to 1910, but Jeston does not appear on that census.  Does anyone know what happened to her? My ancestors there are Hart and Molly (Mary or Lucinda) PHILLIPS.  Her parents are buried there.  Their names were John and Lucinda HARDIN. The Phillips owned a lot of property in Howard County and her obituary shows she was buried in Big Springs. Can you help me or tell me where to look for information?
